Project: “Weg naar Zee, Paramaribo, Suriname”. The coast of Suriname is seriously suffering from erosion. In the last thirty years, the coast has already retreated several hundred meters. The restoration of mangrove forests and the construction of foreshores is the key to protecting and restoring the coastline. Teodor Barna has drawn up an integrated development plan for this. Together with representatives of the local population. In addition to preventing coastal erosion, the plan improves Paramaribo's water safety, restores biodiversity and creates opportunities for sustainable land use in the coastal zone.
